Ceremony of Opening the Eyes of Thao Mangmee, Child Version of Thao Wesuwan

Ceremony of Opening the Eyes of Thao Mangmee, Child Version of Thao Wesuwan
On December 17, 2023, at Wat Tham Khao Cha-ang, Nong Phai Subdistrict, Dan Makham Tia District, Kanchanaburi Province, a worship and opening ceremony was held for "Thao Mangmee." Khun Paisarn Muthayom, known as "Tam Titan" (Titan Gallery), created this for the Big Buddha Park at Wat Tham Khao Cha-ang.

This version of Thao Mangmee is based on the "Kuwair Noi, Model of Wealth Increase," which combines traditional Thai elements with contemporary concepts. The statue of "Kuwair Noi" represents the child version of Thao Wesuwan, featuring a cute and non-threatening appearance, unlike the more intimidating representations of Thao Wesuwan found in other temples. This design makes it easily accessible and suitable for worship by people of all ages and genders.

During the ceremony, Phra Khru Suphanakhanakij, or Luang Phor Sanongchat, the abbot of Wat Yen Sanitharam, led the chanting of the Chai Mongkol mantra and the opening of the eyes of Thao Mangmee. This took place amidst thousands of participants, who observed a remarkable natural phenomenon occurring during the ceremony.

After the ceremony, Khun Tam Titan, the creator, distributed Thao Mangmee sticks to the attendees. One of the highlights everyone eagerly awaited was the number drawn from the 10,000 firecrackers set off during the event. Participants eagerly took photos to keep as a memento for their good luck.

The creation of the Thao Mangmee statue this time is considered a continuation of the success achieved with the "Kuwair Noi, Model of Wealth Increase," which garnered significant faith and worship. This time, a 2-meter bronze statue and a 4-meter plaster statue of Thao Mangmee have been established at the Big Buddha Park at Wat Tham Khao Cha-ang, allowing the public to come and pay their respects and worship.
